CITING OF AKINTUNDE ESAN’S LEGAL ILLUMINATIONS BY JURISTS

Akintunde Esan’s legal illumination is an Online Legal Resource Blog containing the legal illuminations of Akintunde Esan on the principles of law which determine the enforceability of legal rights and obligations in Nigeria.

11) I represented the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice at the 2016 World Data Privicy Day Conference in Lagos not as a civil servant as wrongly described by ITREALMS in it online publication of February 1, 2016, but as a private legal practitioner providing special legal assistance to the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice between 2015 and 2017.  

ITREALMS wrongly described the name of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice as "Akeem Kazeems" instead of "Adeniji Kazeem".

"One of the discussants at the event held at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo, Lagos, Mr. Akintunde Esan, a lawyer in the Lagos State civil service who represented the state Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Hon. Akeem Kazeems, said that one could sue anyone for breach of one’s right of privacy.

Esan also advised that people going into contractual agreements should always include the clause in respect of nondisclosure policy, especially in the employer and employee relationship.

Talking about Cyber Crime, he also warned that anyone who disclosed any piece of information in his custody about somebody else’s personal data risks without due permission, risks a jail term of at least 10 years."
